How To Read The Bible for All It's Worth
The goal of this class will be to expose class members to a different way of thinking about biblical interpretation. The goal of the teacher will be to compare and contrast the different approaches to interpretation and the resultant outcomes. Passages of scripture which have been the subject of controversy and which at times form the basis of directions for the Brooks Avenue congregation will be discussed from the perspective of the collective interpretation of the elders at Brooks. Following an introduction to different approaches to interpretation, sections of scripture will be reviewed in light of interpretative principles, such as the epistles, the prophets, the gospels and the psalms.
