Session 15 Study Questions - Man as Saint

"The God of our fathers has chosen you to know his will and to see the words from his mouth. You will be his witness to all men of what you have seen and heard. And now what are you waiting for? Get up, be baptized and wash your sins away, calling on this name." Acts 22:14-16

Paul refers in a number of his letters to "the saints at…" We have discussed earlier (Session 6) how men in the church are set apart, which is very much a characteristic of sainthood. Are there other characteristics of the sainthood to which Paul refers?
Why is it difficult for men to feel and act as though they are set apart for sainthood in the world today? How would you feel if you were called a "saint?"
Sainthood also suggests holiness. Can you find certain scriptures which call men (actually all people) to holiness? Consider I Peter 1:13 - 16.
Paul sets himself apart from his hearers in Acts 22 (the speech which he makes on the temple steps). He begins this speech emphasizing how he comes from a similar background as his hearers. What does Paul say in this speech which so infuriates his hearers?
What are some of the characteristics of sainthood which Paul describes using his life as an example in Acts 22?
To what extent do you consider sainthood the sum total of one's Christian life? Of course we do not accept the Catholic church's view of sainthood, but is there some significance to the fact that a person cannot become a saint until that person has run the full course of his life and maintained the faith?
To what extent do you consider a characteristic of sainthood developing a personal experience with the living Christ? Do you find evidence of this characteristic in Paul's speech from the temple steps?
